Today's feature is with Snezana of Craft's Cottage. Snezana make s a wide variety of hand crocheted clothing and accessories.
Tell us your name and a little about yourself.
My name is Snezana and I was born and raised in Serbia (former Yougoslavia). I have lived in Holland for 12 years and 20+ years in US. As you may well have gathered, I love yarn and creating with it, it is my 'Psychologist', a place to escape.
What led you to start making the things you do, and how long have you been doing this?
I learned from my grandmother as a child, but a lady on the bus one rainy morning in 2001 got me hooked again. I had seen Joyce crocheting on the bus and found out that we get on the bus at the same stop. The following morning she brought me a crochet hook and a skein of yarn and the rest is history. We are still best friends. I have moved back to Delaware and she still lives in New Jersey but no mather, we try to see eachother at least once a month talk pretty much every day and there is never enough time. We are yarn addicts.
What inspires you most?
Everything, anything. I see things on TV and I sketch things then figure out how to create with yarn. Or, I just see things in my head.
Tell us one of the most memorable things while creating or selling your art/craft.
Meeting Joyce is the best thing ever happened to me and it would not have been except for knitting.
Do you have any advice for other artists/crafters?
If you love to do something, do it. Don't ever let anyone tell you that it is not profitable or not worth it or what ever. There is much value in satisfaction of doing something you love.
Anything else you’d like to add about yourself or your work, etc…
I know that I will never stop doing this because it gives me so much pleasure.
I would like to thank Snezana for this wonderful interview and sharing the stories behind her work with us. Please visit her links below.
